View plugin on Figma

UIHut gives designers access to UI kits, illustrations, icons, 3D assets and other design resources inside Figma. I joined the second plugin launch from the beginning in September 2024 and worked on it through August 2026, across both product and marketing.

The situation

This was not UIHut's first Figma plugin. The original had reached 81K users before it was removed by Figma. That meant the team was not simply launching another product. We were rebuilding access to a valuable distribution channel while starting again at zero.

The second launch needed to earn attention and trust on its own. Existing brand awareness helped, but every install, return visit and recommendation had to be won again through a useful product and clear communication.

My role

I worked with the UIHut Figma Plugin from its early relaunch stage through its growth to 18K users. My role connected product decisions with marketing: understanding what designers needed, helping shape how the plugin was presented and supporting the work required to attract and retain users.

  • Supported the product from the beginning of its second launch
  • Connected user needs and feedback with product priorities
  • Helped clarify the plugin's value for designers searching for ready-to-use assets
  • Worked across launch, positioning, distribution and ongoing growth
  • Kept the product story focused on a simple benefit: useful design resources without leaving Figma

The product experience

The plugin reduces the distance between finding an asset and using it. Designers can browse UI kits, illustrations, icon packs, 3D assets and templates in the environment where they are already working. That practical promise gave the product a clear foundation for both onboarding and marketing.

Instead of describing UIHut only as a large resource library, the communication could focus on the job users wanted to complete: find the right visual asset faster and keep the design workflow moving.

How we approached growth

Rebuild from the user problem

After losing an established plugin, the strongest response was not to recreate an old user count in one jump. It was to rebuild around a durable problem. Designers regularly need quality assets, but switching between tools and websites adds friction. The plugin made that need easy to understand and easy to act on.

Make the value visible before the install

A Figma Community visitor decides quickly whether a plugin is relevant. Product naming, category language and examples therefore needed to show what was available and who it was for. Terms such as UI kits, illustrations and 3D assets helped match the listing to real designer needs instead of relying on a vague brand message.

Treat growth as ongoing product work

The launch created the starting point, not the finish line. Working on the plugin for two years meant continuing to connect product usefulness, user feedback and distribution. That consistency helped the second launch move from no users to a community of 18K.

The result

From September 2024 to August 2026, the relaunched UIHut Figma Plugin grew from 0 to 18K users. More importantly, UIHut rebuilt a presence inside Figma after losing an earlier plugin that had reached 81K users.

The real challenge was not launching twice. It was earning a second chance at distribution and turning it into steady, useful growth.

What I learned

  • A strong existing brand does not remove the need to earn product trust again
  • Clear category language helps users and search systems understand a product faster
  • Product marketing works best when the promise matches the in-product experience
  • Sustainable growth comes from consistent product and distribution work after launch day
